We are proud to say that one of our partner agencies, Cookies and Partners, from Italy, is doing their part in the battle for the environment. They’ve created a trailer for Greenpeace to help launch their new report across 55 countries wherein the environmental organization is currently operating. Along with the video they have also created a global editorial plan to ask that everybody help by signing a petition to remind large companies of their responsibility to our one planet, our one home.
This recent report launched by Greenpeace “A Crisis of Convenience: The corporations behind the plastics pollution pandemic”, reveals that 90% of plastic around the world is not recycled. Much of that number is released into the environment or burned, polluting the soil, air and oceans. Dishearteningly, according to Greenpeace up to 12 million tons of plastic is dumped into the ocean each year.
Multinational corporations are the greatest proprietors of this pandemic. The horrifying numbers in Greenpeace’s report are multiplied every year in large part due to multinational companies that continue to enable disposable plastic consumption, offering no solution but a flaccid request for consumers to recycle. And they are operating right under the public eye, unnoticed.
One of the many problems, is that it’s easy to forget that we are wading in the deep waters of a world wide crisis; which is why this new project by one of our partners is so important. The trailer created by Cookies and Partners can be counted among other advertisements in the fight against plastic; ads like: “The Ocean Plastic Book” or “Singe-use plastics: are you #ReadyToChange?”. Cookies and Partners is joining the ranks of other modern day heralds, that are bringing this problem to the attentions of the whole world. Making the problem impossible to ignore and the solution clear as water should be.
